  1. Single player FPSes on consoles are basically as good as they are on PCs, its more in the multiplayer online field where the PC dominates. Its mainly because a television usually feels better to look at then a monitor when you're alone playing a game.

That's the main flaw with JRPGs, since they have the best avenues to create difficult bosses that aren't repetitive as hell (D2), difficulty + good story is hard to find, even a good story by itself is hard to find anymore. That's one of the main reasons Vagrant Story is so good.
  3. The vast majority of the people who wield little or no power... and... that's about it.
  4. But then Capitalism and the amount of "growth" in the economy always outdoes people's charitable effort so the rich still get richer and the poor still get poorer. Well, wiping out the whole population is nice, but again if 10% remain it'll still evolve back into the same sort of corrupt society, regardless. It still seems unlikely that all the hermits out there (JD Salinger ) would be reached by any spreading of ebola. There may not be a perfect solution to the problem, but there's certainly much better than what we're doing right now. Humans aren't willing to exterminate themselves, and that's not really a flaw. Without humans the world might be better off but obviously humans wouldn't be better off. :) I still think suicide is dishonorable regardless.

It feels like VS? That could be great news, but I doubt it'd live up to it (as you said it wasn't perfect ). Well Xenosaga doesn't feel that much like Xenogears and its supposed to be a spiritual sequel so who knows? To buy or not to buy... As far as DQVIII goes, the musical score is enough to retain anyone's interest, and an impossible final boss is always a golden feature, except when the plot happens to be as good as Xenogears
  6. Methinks my new avatar is satan :)
  7. Sort of depends on whether you're in Egypt doesn't it?
  8. Well, it is how we lost last year (the home loss dictating the series), so it might be over but not necessarilly, come on miracle comeback.

FFXII is more of a "sequel" to FFT (Ivalice) than VS, and besides it would have to be a true sequel involving Ashley Riot wandering around and showing the badassedness of that blood sin, with almost exactly the same gameplay except more weapon types and break arts and everything else. Thanks for the very helpful information though.

    Killzone!?!

IMO Timesplitter's single player is boring as hell, just a crack brained sort of storyline that goes on forever. It's multiplayer is similar enough to Goldeneye to be Nostalgic fun, but that's about it. Killzone's storyline, while no great masterpiece, is better than Timesplitters. Halo > Killzone > Halo 2 as far as "next gen" console FPS's go (barring Metroid Prime). To respect the game you really have to get into moving around and surprising enemies with fire in the side, single player bot matches kick ass for that reason (though not if you just camp a sniper rifle). Multiplayer isn't that bad, but it isn't that good either, I suppose because I never had consistent net access with my PS2 that sort of killed it. Eh, its somewhat different, but although the PC's FPS format is always going to be superior to the consoles its still fun playing around with console FPS's anyway. It feels more like you're in the game in the console IMO, though you can't control quite so easily. Of course I suck at both because I don't play the game all day and all night (that's RPGs for me), but I can still speak about it somewhat intelligently.

Well, its actually not that hard once you do get past the curve, but the last boss (I guess that'd be a spoiler to name him) still took me about 30 tries to beat even though I was past the curve. Risk management is actually useful in this sense :) Crafting weapons is all important depending on what you're facing, elemental affinity is the most important thing to kill bosses, though all the human ones are unanalyzable (that's definitely a word) so you just wanna pull out whatever your best weapon is. Gamefaqs has several good FAQs that relate how to go about doing it, but not really one that teaches you the game, since that's basically where all the enjoyment lies at is a personal experience (and I guess an achievement, God forbid motivation bullshit). I was chaining monsters to death all the way up to the first crab, about 13-15 hours in at which point I realized what all this stuff was for. Blunt weapons are more effective against his claws, piercing is more effective against his mouth sort of thing, as well as fire being his primary weakness. Its amazing how the different portions of the body, while still damaging the whole, have different weaknesses and strengths and that only adds more depth to the combat. The only thing that can make this game more than perfect is a sequel. The deep involved plot from one man's perspective basically parallels the difficulty that the player has picking up the game. A masterpiece, the only real one I've ever played :D
  12. Eh, no more miraculous Robert Horry shots :) But go Pistons, hurray for one of two good Michigan sports teams (although the Tigers are doing good atm).

Well, since it hasn't been mentioned, Vagrant Story, ala the best Console game I've ever played. Arguably the hardest learning curve in any RPG, but once you get past it its so damn sweet. Front Mission 3 is awesome, being that it goes on for a very long time and doesn't get boring. Front Mission 4 sucks because its about 50-100 hours shorter than FM3.
  14. Oh, my character name is Dulazen and my race is human, if that wasn't clear (sure the second part wasn't), sorry if I should have edited rather than post again. Been playing once every 3 or 4 weeks (on average) for a year and a few months now. :D

    Killzone!?!

Single player wasn't that hard was it? Even on hard its pretty breezy, but its a game where you can't really be Rambo and you have to walk in slowly and snipe off whoever you can before you charge up the stairs. Its hard as hell to tell what level you're on though Even the last level isn't that hard, though its a bit of a challenge compared to the rest (accredit to lack of game balance in all FPSs), certainly its no UT Godlike. As far as Killzone being better than Halo 2, it is. I had more fun with Killzone simply because Halo 2 wasn't more inventive in plot structure or anything special and the lack of vehicles in Killzone is overcome by its superiority in weapon balance. Admittedly the last part in Halo 2 on legendary was more fun then Killzone on Hard, but not by that much. Its also dull as hell in multiplayer (but so is Killzone). The reason Halo 2 gets "9's" and Killzone gets "6's" (more like 8's as far as I can tell), is because the entire Halo series has been and always will be overrated. X Box is so desperate for good games that it overrates almost every moderately good one, and calls the good ones legendary pieces of work (which they aren't).
