  1. Well. I bought the Rode NT1-A microphone on eBay the other day. It comes with a coupon where I can get another microphone from Rode for $1. That means total I will have spent $170 and I'm getting a $230 mic and a $199 mic. I love life.
  2. Yay. I actually really enjoy their new stuff so...I'd go.
  3. Since Pain of Salvation and Beardfish both bailed on Prog Nation 09, I'm trying to sell my ticket. Anyone interested in a ticket for July 31st at the Tower Theater in Philly? Dream Theater, Zappa Plays Zappa, Big Elf, and Scale the Summit. I paid $70 for it and I'm looking for like $55ish.
  4. For chord switching...practice chord switching. Just pick out a basic song and try to play along. If it's too fast, turn it off and just play it at a slower speed making sure all your chords ring cleanly. Just keep doing it and eventually you get better at it. It won't come instantly but it'll happen. As for picking up and down, do you mean like picking two notes on one string then moving to the next string and picking two notes or what? I don't really understand your question.
  5. Lindsay kinda reminds me of Lily Allen. Anyone?
  6. SPV, the label that owns Inside Out, went bankrupt so now Inside Out doesn't have the money to send Pain of Salvation AND Beardfish to America. So now I paid $70 to see Dream Theater and 3 bands I've never listened to play. I've seen Dream Theater like 3 or 4 times in the last couple years. I don't really care any more. FUCK.
  7. I mentioned it in my last post. "The Switchblade" is an amp made by Hughes & Kettner. It's got 4 channels and digital effects built into the amp and every parameter is MIDI assignable. This means that using the footswitch that comes with it I can go from a super wet clean signal with tons of delay and reverb on it to a tight, crunch rhythm tone by stepping on one button. This way I don't have to mess with external multi-FX units or stompboxes. Google it if you want to check it out. As far as pick ups go, maybe some Seymour Duncans or something. Something that can give me a good metal tone if I want it but also succeed in lower gain stages.
  8. Puh-lease. I'm actually in the process of getting rid of the Mesa. The Switchblade is just more versatile and doesn't require many external effects. I'd like to look into putting some new pickups in my Jackson but that'll have to come after I pick up a keyboard and a mic.
  9. Oh man. There is so much gear I wish I had. It's unbelievable. First, I'd like some sort of nice mic. Right now a realistic choice would be some sort of Rode. Maybe an NT1-A or something. Then, a midi keyboard with lots of controls and those rubber pads would be nice. A good preamp for the mic would rock as well. In terms of guitars, I'd love some sort of strat like thing to get those nice single coil tones. A Suhr or some type of Music Man with their beautiful piezos could tickle my fancy as well. Lastly, a quality drumset would complete the package. Perhaps some Gretsch Renowns or Yamaha Maple Customs? I'm pretty sure my gear list will never end. I did just pick up a Hughes & Kettner Switchblade which is a nice little gear acquisition.
  10. I feel like you really miss out if you don't get some of their epics though... But who am I to talk? 'Adam and Eve' and 'Paradox Hotel' are my favorite Flower Kings albums.
  11. Just bought my tickets to Progressive Nation 2009. $70 fucking dollars but I can't pass up seeing Pain of Salvation AND Beardfish.
  12. I would just like to say that 'A Rite of Passage' makes it sound like this is going to be SC pt. 2. Lame.
  13. Fall of Troy - "Chapter 4: Enter the Black Demon"
  14. I absolutely love Protest the Hero so it was worth it for me. The only problem I had was that the venue was small and filled with high/middle school kids. Misery Signals were ok and Number 12 Looks Like You had some great melodic and jazzy moments but there a lot of chaotic moments as well. Hit up the band's myspaces to get a feel for them.
