    RT: SWEET 16

It's hard to believe this baby is all grown up now.

    The working life

Eh, I don't think I have talked too much on my employment. I am a Senior Editor and Visual Designer for an up-and coming gaming site that has recently signed on with Razer, Logitech, Cougar, and a few other outlets to provide our equipment. ASRock, ATi and Intel are on deck. We are currently in the process of launching a new site and are now closing in on 100,000 hits a week. We work with Rock, Paper, Shotgun to promote out content and we have a staff of 6. I obviously will not plug it here as there is no need to bring that here. It has only been roughly a year in operation and we have received over $5,000 in free games and equipment, which is pretty decent. Before I started working here, I was a Journeyman welder working in a shop with a guy who has been doing it for 50 years. I had always thought I would never be able to break into the industry, and then found myself sitting in the offices of several game studios in the Eastern US talking to people who I never thought I would converse with.
  3. I don't consider myself to be on the up and up of news in the literary world, so if it old, then so be it. The work, on a subjective level, is impressive and engaging; but I can also get on board with some of the vitriol in comments on Vice. You almost don't want to admit to yourself that you know that this person is a summation of all the things she used to go on about online in the past. I have been having a hard time deciding if what I am reading is excellently written candid sexual encounters, or some circlejerk to Consumerist-Marxist sympathizers embroiled in deep confusion about the true meaning of the feminist movement. In the end, after I read "Adrian Brody" (after the Jeremy Lin piece), I just ended up feeling very sorry for her. If her works are supposed to be autobiographical, then there are some serious acceptance issues tied in with using sex as a currency for mental stability that need to be addressed. She/this character uses men as a device to satisfy her own loneliness and it becomes pretentious and insulting after awhile.
  4. Figured I would pop in to impart this story. I am a fan of Vice.com, great site with off-color content directed at artsy-fartsy types that enjoy the weirder side of life. I generally don't venture around the site too much outside of the usual bookmarks, but there was a story simply titled, "Jeremy Lin". For the uninitiated, Jeremy Lin was a basketball phenom earlier this year who was frequently associated with the phrase, "Linsanity". I do not care for most sports in the least, but I was attracted to the article and read it to completion. It was raw, unabashed writing that took no prisoners and did not apologize for it's narcissistic overtones. "By Marie Calloway" it read, so I figured I would at least Google her picture and see what such a talented writer looks like. And who do I see? Our very own Marie sitting in the top result. It took me a bit of searching, but there is no doubt that it is her. So, I figured that I would seek her out on Facebook and say "hi" and tell her how I enjoyed her work and all that jazz. I messaged her and she basically told me that she had no idea who I was and did not know what Accelerated-E is. She is friends with other AE members on Facebook, not mention there is a picture of Robin right there on her page. Just strange. Carry on.
  5. I miss you too, baby. I was posting in a Reddit topic about the (vauge) history of AE and suddenly realized I hadn't been here in ages.
  6. I just want to say that it is fucking strange to remember some of us 10 years ago and to see current pictures, it blows my mind for some reason.
  7. Bullshit, there are no good looking men in Canada, I would know. Wait, no I wouldn't.
  8. Then talk to me, woman, tell me your life and travels. I want to hear them. Then sexual things.
  9. Amy is not some no name hooker that killed herself, she is a member of this board and regardless of whatever life decisions she has made that has led to her death, does not change that. She wasn't just killing herself for something simple, she was a disturbed person that unfortunately did what she thought was right in her current mental state. If this is how you truly feel about her, why did you contact her family, you sick bastard? You're going to tell us that you spent time sending condolences to them and then turn to AE to basically say that her death amuses you? I mean, it's obvious your swooping defense of keira is the simple fact that it is known that the two of you get off on being those people that know the personal issues of certain members and love to flaunt it. You can't even deny that, the VG chats used to be filled with your "inside info" of other members, and keiras stalking of the board for years before she joined is the obvious fuel for your grandiose posts. Shit like this makes me sick, and this is why I stopped coming to AE. I thought we were past this kind of stuff, acting like children and getting off on stuff like this, but I have been reaffirmed of my opinion. The best thing about this is that you are trying to deflect and relate amy's death to a no-name hooker to give yourself some peace of mind that what you are doing right now is justified.
  10. Likewise. I know nothing of you anymore, although, I still want to come to PG.
  11. That's pathetic and childish. Only a sociopath would get pleasure from something like this, also, sounds like you're pulling back because you know you're just being a dickbag.
  12. J, if this is a no name thread on a no name board, than I truly don't understand why you feel the need to even log in.
  13. Water has a habit of getting in the wheelwell area and locking up the steering in deeper puddles. I used to own that exact car, so that's why I say it.
  14. I never thought I'd say this about you, but that whole post is undoubtedly holier-than-thou. Everyone's reaction is not "OMG YOU SUCK" to any of it, it's more or less of a "Seriously? Is it even necessary to have this sort of tone about it?" I don't know if you ride Keira's dick nowadays because she's more active than us other members, but we here have made it quite clear that we are remembering someone the best way we can. It's obvious that you and her have been privy to the situation longer than the rest of us, so if anyone needs to leave it alone, t's you, we can have our turn too. And yeah, you sound like an asshole. I'll third that.
  15. Don't drive that shit in heavy rain or you will slide. Trust me.
  16. Incredible how this thread has brought some members out of the woodworks, haven't seen Hero in what, 3 years now? I also will not pretend to know Amy that well either, but the pain of losing a member of a group that I have been a part of for almost 10 years now is still a disparaging feeling. I have only talked to amy a handful of times off of AE, and most of it was very disconnected and made no sense. I had always sensed that something was not right with her, there was no rhyme or reason for what she did, but she was a good soul deep down. When it came right down to it, the best representation of our longest and embattled threads, Random Thoughts, is amy. No one here should feel guilty for finding out so late, I sure as hell wouldn't have realized it unless Brian had brought it up in the first place. In fact, I would have never known if one more person would have posted a status update to push Brians post to Jenna off my feed. Some of us have fallen off the grid, and some of us only keep in touch on Facebook. and it's not fair for anyone to be blaming anyone else for "not putting the pieces together" and "knowing too late", that just a plain shitty way to invade the thread, and a great way to desecrate out memorial of her. Going through this thread has made me pretty angry, to be honest. I mean, I wasn't even able to respond to this thread until 8 days after I found it because a storm knocked out most of Verizons coverage of Philly. But back on track, I would like to add that if we as a group are going to put anything together in remembrance of her, I'm game.
  17. Russian Circles. Great, and sometimes heavy stuff.
  18. I just went there, suckers.
  19. Living in Philly makes riding my motorcycle more of a chore than a pleasure.
  20. 3D Dot Game Heroes, until Red Dead Redemption comes out.
  21. I'm not dead, Facebook/Skype just kind of streamlined most of this for me. That, and I kind of hate the interwebs as of late.
