Final Fantasy XII

Despite what I've read elsewhere, I am really liking the new battle system. This marks the first time I've ever prefered the Active system (as opposed to Wait). As much as I'd like to be a purist about it, it really is time to do something about the 20-year old battle system. Boss fights are a fucking blast with the new system, especially the one where you attack the T-Rex while it's feasting on smaller monsters. I really hope they don't name that other boss "Ring Wyrm" From the brief snippets of dialogue and action, the story looks to be somewhere between FFX and FFIX, with character designs leaning towards Vagrant Story. I think this game will be worth the wait.

I heard the battles system was just a choppier version of FFXI's

of course that is what I have heard only......

it doesn't matter anymore, FF has long lost it's grand interest it held on me like it used to......

the games I long for these days are Suikoden.

I hate to say it, but Suikoden isn't doing much better right now. I'm reserving judgement until SV comes out, but as of now the series is in serious decline.

Oddly (very oddly) I think my favorite FF game (gameplay wise) was FFIX.

Most of my friends who play a ton of RPGs echo that statement.

I haven't played the demo, but from what I saw it looks like a more active system which will be a change. Change is good. I play too many RPGs that feel identical.

And, yes, FFX's battle system was the best ever. FFX2 had a very fun battle system also, especially when done on Active.

I'm not too sure why tons of people were so against FFIX, but I could surmise that everyone felt like it was a rehash.

Unfortunately, if anyone paid attention, the #1 point of IX was to go back to it's roots before the series turned to the double-digits, and I think in that aspect, IX was exacuted nearly flawlessly. Nearly everything in the game felt fresh and interesting, yet the pangs of the series beginnings were kept in focus at all times.

Yeah, VII's great character development.

"I DON'T REMEMBER WHO I AM, WELL I DO, BUT I'M LYING AND DON'T KNOW IT"

"I KNOW THE TRUTH BUT I WON'T TELL YOU BECAUSE I'M AN IRRATIONAL WOMAN"

Or VIII's amazing character development.

"WE DON'T REMEMBER WHO WE ARE BECAUSE OF THESE THINGS WE HAVE, BUT LET'S NEVER TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN."

"I KNOW THE TRUTH BUT I WON'T TELL YOU BECAUSE I'M AN IRRATIONAL METROSEXUAL"

Wait... I thought they all agreed on writing their experiences in a shitty journal?
