Kreutz
Despite what I've read elsewhere, I am really liking the new battle system. This marks the first time I've ever prefered the Active system (as opposed to Wait). As much as I'd like to be a purist about it, it really is time to do something about the 20-year old battle system. Boss fights are a fucking blast with the new system, especially the one where you attack the T-Rex while it's feasting on smaller monsters. I really hope they don't name that other boss "Ring Wyrm" From the brief snippets of dialogue and action, the story looks to be somewhere between FFX and FFIX, with character designs leaning towards Vagrant Story. I think this game will be worth the wait. Link to comment
Galkar
Do you know when the supposed release date is? *too lazy to go look it up* Link to comment
Kreutz
GameFAQs has it as August 1, 2006. GameFAQs is usually wrong. Link to comment
darkon
Gamespot has it as August 1, 2006. Some sites say 3/16/2006 for it's Japanese release. Link to comment
Scarface
I heard the battles system was just a choppier version of FFXI's of course that is what I have heard only...... it doesn't matter anymore, FF has long lost it's grand interest it held on me like it used to...... the games I long for these days are Suikoden. I hate to say it, but Suikoden isn't doing much better right now. I'm reserving judgement until SV comes out, but as of now the series is in serious decline. Link to comment
Hero
This demo reminded me of .hack. I have no faith in FFXII, gameplay-wise, being anything better than mediocre. It will probably get 9s in every magazine and website on the Earth. Link to comment
Crube
This demo reminded me of .hack. I have no faith in newer Final Fantasy games, gameplay-wise, being anything better than mediocre. It will probably get 9s in every magazine and website on the Earth. Really though... It should be better than X and X2... right? Link to comment
uniform_motion
X was a good name. Just not a good Final Fantasy game. Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
X was a good name. Just not a good Final Fantasy game. Truer words were never spoken. Link to comment
Hero
Really though... It should be better than X and X2... right? I liked X. X2 at least had a good battle system. XII looks to have a decent story, but be a shitty game. Link to comment
uniform_motion
I liked X as well. I ment "game" not "name" Because Auron is teh sex. Period. Link to comment
Silver Cyclone
I agree with coop. Auron was a sexy bish. Link to comment
stranger
Oddly (very oddly) I think my favorite FF game (gameplay wise) was FFIX. Link to comment
Ceraziefish
I liked the ability system in FFIX a lot, too. Gameplay-wise, though, X is my favorite. IMO that is the best turn based battle system ever made. If FFXII is a shitty version of FFXI's battle system... Wow, that's horrible. Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
FFIX was a fun game, despite the story flaws. The battles were fun, the card game was better then the one in FFVIII, and some of the events made the game extra fun (like the hunt in that city... it's been awhile) Link to comment
darkon
Oddly (very oddly) I think my favorite FF game (gameplay wise) was FFIX. Most of my friends who play a ton of RPGs echo that statement. I haven't played the demo, but from what I saw it looks like a more active system which will be a change. Change is good. I play too many RPGs that feel identical. And, yes, FFX's battle system was the best ever. FFX2 had a very fun battle system also, especially when done on Active. Link to comment
Cleese
I cant stop playing 11 to play this game. Link to comment
Alundra
I'm not too sure why tons of people were so against FFIX, but I could surmise that everyone felt like it was a rehash. Unfortunately, if anyone paid attention, the #1 point of IX was to go back to it's roots before the series turned to the double-digits, and I think in that aspect, IX was exacuted nearly flawlessly. Nearly everything in the game felt fresh and interesting, yet the pangs of the series beginnings were kept in focus at all times. Link to comment
Kreutz
I think it was a rehash. After the progress made by VII and VIII in terms of setting and character development, IX felt like the same old shit only in 3D. Link to comment
Hero
Yeah, VII's great character development. "I DON'T REMEMBER WHO I AM, WELL I DO, BUT I'M LYING AND DON'T KNOW IT" "I KNOW THE TRUTH BUT I WON'T TELL YOU BECAUSE I'M AN IRRATIONAL WOMAN" Or VIII's amazing character development. "WE DON'T REMEMBER WHO WE ARE BECAUSE OF THESE THINGS WE HAVE, BUT LET'S NEVER TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN." "I KNOW THE TRUTH BUT I WON'T TELL YOU BECAUSE I'M AN IRRATIONAL METROSEXUAL" Link to comment

Silver Cyclone
Thank God Hero said it. Because I don;t think I could have put it any better. Link to comment
Mithrandir
I thought IX was an excellent game. The gameplay was always enjoyable and the characters (although simple) were very nicely done. Link to comment
