Alundra
Not sure if it is new or not, but here is a small trailer that doesn't reveal too much about the movie: Link The thing I like about it is the fact that it seems to capture the concept of fear from the Silent Hill standpoint. A huge problem that I am having with this is the fact that an M game is getting a PG-13 rating, and technically, the people who should want to see this movie are the fans who were over 17 when the games came out. I know that it is hard for a rated-R movie to do well in the box office, but it kind of defeats the purpose. Link to comment
J-Stop
The theatrical trailer is out now. Hopefully they'll use most of the original game score for the movie, not just the trailer. Hearing "Laura's Theme" and the other world in motion has restored my faith in it. I haven't seen Mary Elizabeth McGlynn attached to the project yet, though. Oh, and for anyone who didn't catch it in the trailer, Link to comment
The Diabetic
It seems to be a retelling of the first game. Which is good, cause I think it would probably be the best translation to screen. Pyramid Heads....get the fuck out.. Link to comment
Akito
I was kind of surprised when I saw the trailer. It actually looks pretty decent, and could very well be the first game-based movie that isn't complete dogshit. Link to comment
Kreutz
It looks like it won't completely suck. The PG13 tag has me a bit skeptical, though. Link to comment
Arcane
Actually looks half-way decent. Link to comment
Reinas
Sorry for tresspassing into the video game forum, but I happen to enjoy Silent Hill a lot and had to read this thread. The trailer looks neat. It doesn't try too hard by making it cheesy. (RE ) The rating is a little worrying though. Just PG-13? Although, this looks like it could actually be a good game-movie adaption. Link to comment
Alundra
From what I have seen, the trailers seem to give the impression that the direction in the movie will mimic the direction the Silent Hill series. From the voices to the excellent intro song for the very first trailer released, I am confident that this may be the first amazing video game to movie conversion. Link to comment
Ceraziefish
I have to agree. The trailer looks pretty good. I only ever played the opening of the game, but that trailer inspired me to track down a copy of it. Link to comment

I only ever played the opening of the game, but that trailer inspired me to track down a copy of it. Movie is loosely based off of events seen in Silent Hill 2, which is also arguably the best in the series, so you might want to pick that one up to get acclimated. But I am partial to SH3, simply because of the great storyline. Link to comment
Dramatic Conclusion
dsakjfdkfds Pyramid Head. Link to comment
Venom112
I'd have to agree with the concensus of the thread thus far. From the trailer, the only complaint I can muster is that the integration and use of the CG looks a lot worse than that of Space Jam. Link to comment

Natsu
I swear to god though if it has a lame-o plot...I will kill someone..can anyone remeber the rocket engine station wagon and Abobo from that horrible Double Dragon movie. Link to comment
Ceraziefish
Abobo no like intruders! I'm gonna beat you up! <3 Abobo. And the trailer reminded me of what I played of Silent Hill. I suppose I should listen to the people who know what they're talking about, though. Link to comment

Well, unfortuately the Silent Hill movie is slighly based off of the occurences found in Silent Hill 2, so James is automatically ruled out from the start since he found his peace at the end of the game (in one of the endings) and said that he would never return to the town. *Spoilers* Second, although I am unsure of the timeline between the first second and third games, Harry Mason is murdered in Silent Hill 3, so a cameo chance is most likely not even a possibility. It looks like we are stuck with this middle-aged woman looking for her daughter who vanished into the town. I would have liked to see a more intruiging twist on what brought her to the town, but that's just nitpicking. Link to comment
Excel
What're you talking about? The events in the movie are totally Silent Hill 1, just with a female lead character. Hell, everything is almost the exact same as 1. 1) Car crash caused by person in the road. 2) Lost child. 3) Other child who looks like lost child. 4) Visiting the Elementry School. 5) She meets a motorcycle cop. 6) IT EVEN HAS THE SILENT HILL 1 OPENING THEME. The only thing Silent Hill 2-ish about the trailer is the presense of Pyramid Head and those weird "straight-jacket" enemies. And if you want to get technical, the nurses, since the SH1 nurses all had those weird parasite things. Link to comment
