Valkyrie Profile 2, announced

It is going to be a prequel, dating hundreds of years before the first game, and is going to be on the PS2.

That is as much as we know. Hopefully they will keep the sprite based graphics the old one had, and tie together some of the more obscure Gods that didn't have a big role in part one....

Sadly, none of the Einhanjar should be in this game, sucks, suck Lezard was the man....

They left things open even after the first game, like the whole Brahms episode.....but anything is fine for me. I am just glad they are showing some love for such a great game.

It's 3D. Using the same modeling technology from KH2's PotC world and all of FFXII.

It's also worth it to note that apparently Vaklyrie Profile might be seeing a re-release on the PSP. It'd be neat, as I'd rather not have to pay $80+ for it.

A used copy at Gamestop costs about $45.

Unlike EB, Gamestop's online site doesn't do a good job of guaranteeing a case and instructions with their games.

Hell, now that they're merged, EB.com doesn't guarantee it, either.

So, unless I can physically see the game at a store I'm going to, no dice.

Well, if Star Ocean 3 is any indication of Tri-Ace's ability to design 3-D dungeons, then I can't say I'm too optimistic about how the game will turn out. Maybe the battle system will be able to make up for it, but a good majority of VP's playtime is spent dungeon-crawling, and I'd much rather go through side-scrolling dungeons than boring 3-D mazes.

Half the charm of the original was the sprites. The other half was story.

Nowadays, we sure as fuck can't ount on the story, so I want my sprites!

I've bought stuff from Gamestop before and it simply hasn't worked. Fortunately those have been PS1 games so I just pop them into the PS2 and they work (Don't really know why).

VP is a fantastic game, so I'm pumped about VP 2. At least right now.
