Nega-Brent
After watching a trailer for Marie Antoinette and thinking about other American films that take place in foreign countries with their own languages... a question popped into my head. Is there a foreign film about an American or an American event? Is there a French biopic about George Washington? Has China created an epic action film about the American Civil War? Link to comment
Nega-Brent
XD, I never thought about that, but probably not, they could care less I want my French George Washington biopic dammit! Or a Cuban biopic on JFK. Link to comment
darkon
There are a bunch of British films about America. But they're not in a foreign language. Link to comment

Belial
Thats it, I'm going to head down to Mexico and make a great film about ol' Abe Lincoln. Though it beats the hell out of me where I'll find a 6'4" mexican. Link to comment

Belial
If you're going make a film in Spanish, why not make a Cuban film about JFK? Everyone knows the Mexican people look better on camera than Cubans! Though we could make a Mexican movie about JFK from the Cuban perspective. Link to comment

stranger
There's Tora! Tora! Tora! ... which is a Japanese film about the Pearl Harbor attack... But i'm not sure if that really counts, since it was probably as much a Japanese event as it was an American event Link to comment
amy
there's lots of anime where they go to NYC i think Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
there's lots of anime where they go to NYC i think Yes, but is it about americans? There are a bunch of British films about America. But they're not in a foreign language. I need subtitles when I watch Doctor Who. Link to comment
Samurai Drifter
The closest I can think of is the anime Kaleido Star, which mainly focuses on Americans (well, one Japanese girl who moved to America to be in a circus). It kinda sucks. Then there's Beck, of course, which portrays Americans as thugs who literally say "fuck" every other word. Oh, and even though the American characters are white, their voices are obviously done by black guys. It's still an excellent series, though. Link to comment
Ceraziefish
Has China created an epic action film about the American Civil War? That sounds like pretty much the best movie ever. Grant: "You killed my master!" Lee: "And now! I'll kill you!" *The wire-fight of Gettysburg ensues.* Link to comment

Gunsmith Cats took place in Chicago, and i'm pretty sure Rally and Minnie May were supposed to be american and i swear i've heard japanese people are super into cowboy stuff. that would be rad if they had their own spaghetti westerns (ramen westerns. rofl) Link to comment
darkon
Well they did have Yojimbo. Link to comment
darkon
Bwahahahahahaha. Americans... We're not all like that!!! Link to comment
Battle_Pope
Gunsmith Cats took place in Chicago, and i'm pretty sure Rally and Minnie May were supposed to be american the same people who did that also did Riding Bean which also took place in Chicago. I can say they matched it pretty accurately to some Chicago locations., and that's because they employed Chicago folk for the project. Link to comment
Nega-Brent
I need subtitles when I watch Doctor Who. Wow, just wow. The characters/actors on Dr. Who are pretty tame as far as British accents are concerned. Link to comment
Ceraziefish
I love how Mad Max has an English audio track and an Australian audio track. Ramen westerns would be tight. My roommate's girlfriend left the first Beck manga on my bed the other day, I read it because SD mentioned it in this thread. It was alright. I imagine the actual show is a lot better, though, since it's about music and there is quite obviously no music in the comic. Link to comment
