Siegfried
It's out, and not a single post about it? I know the ROMs got released earlier, but... Any thoughts about it? They kept the Spoony Bard line in, but from the looks of it, the rest of the dialoge doesn't seem like the type of stuff that would make the cut on the SNES era, which is a good thing, because it's not a Woosley translation. (People say it's actually a modified version of the PSX dialog, only more polished. Is this right?) Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
I asked for it for christmas, so in two weeks I'll post what I think. Link to comment
Akito
I'll buy it tomarrow (and by tomarrow, I mean wednesday, which is technically today). I shall post impressions soon. I'm sure I'll get about half way through the game in one sitting. Link to comment
Alundra
I bought it yesterday on my way home from class, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I'll post some impressions later tonight after I give it a whirl. Link to comment
Akito
Just started playing it. The SNES Final Fantasy games were long over-due for GBA ports, so it's great to see that it's finally happening. FF4 is great so far. The improved graphics and faster battle speed make the game feel more worthwhile than the PS1 port, which was pretty much identical to the SNES version (except with a better translation). And I'm excited about seeing this bonus dungeon. It's definately worth picking up if you're a fan of the game. Link to comment

Scarface
It's better then, "I can't believe it's not butter." I shit you not. Plus it came out on my birfdizzay and just adds to the badassery the original had. Kain gets double jumps and a new sexy lance! Edward in the final party!!!! Cid jumps out of a flying vehicle, blows himself up, and lives!!!!!!! Fucking hardcore. *poses* Edited December 20, 2005 by Scarface Link to comment
Alundra
Is it me, or does this seem to be the American Easy-Type instead of the Japanese Hard-Type? Not even Edward has died in battle yet, and I didn't even bother to level him before facing the Antlion. Link to comment
Akito
Is it me, or does this seem to be the American Easy-Type instead of the Japanese Hard-Type? It's based on the hard-type. The thing is, it's really hard to tell the difference between the two versions during the early parts of the game. Link to comment
Elitist Indie Hipster
umm i can notice a small difference, nothing to major so far. Great game though, true classic. Link to comment
Alundra
I'm still not convinced I am playing the Hard Version, Akito. I just killed Barons impostor in only 5 full turns. Link to comment
Siendra
It's probably sitting right inbetween the easy and hard. Link to comment
Akito
I'm still not convinced I am playing the Hard Version, Akito. I just killed Barons impostor in only 5 full turns. You can easily beat him in the hard version of the game by simply casting Bolt 3 on him twice. Trust me, that was never a hard boss, no matter which version you play. Zeromus is pretty easy to beat in the easy version of the game at level 60, but he's insanely hard to beat at that level in the hard type. I guess that'll be a good way to test it. Also, in the hard type version, you can't buy ethers until you reach the moon, but they're avaliable in the very first town in the easy version. Link to comment
Siendra
It sin't the hard type, but it's not the easy version either. I picked it up today. I think it seems really easy due to the increased battle speed. Link to comment
Scarface
Battle speed affects both sides of the fight, not just yer team lol Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
Well so far its kinda mixed. I think its harder then the PSX one, because I worried though some of the first dungeons. Those water bugs pissed me off. Renew my ass. (It could be because I go back and make sure I have everything, a few times...) Link to comment
Akito
God damn it, there are no good places to level-build in this game. I can go into the final dungeon and I'm only level 50. And at this point, it takes at least 20 minutes per level. When you get into the 60s, it's about an hour per level. And it's hard to beat the last boss when you're not in the upper 60s or low 70s. Siendra
Battle speed affects both sides of the fight, not just yer team lol Yes, it does - but yhe battles don't seem so drawn out. They don't seem as intense as you wait Ages for Cecil or Tellah to come up to heal everyone. Link to comment
Akito
You did all the side quests right? Almost. Still haven't gotten Bahamut, nor have I done the Cave of Trials. But I seriously doubt either of those will give me a quick way to gain some EXP. Link to comment

Akito
Bahamuts dungen is one of the hardest in the game Yeah, but even the enemies in the final stretch of the last dungeon give you shit for EXP (especially for how hard it is to kill the damn things). FF4 really needs a dinosaur forest. Link to comment
Scarface
Go level in the lunar Ruins lol by the time I had that place done, Kain (who levels the fastest) was almost at level 70 and totally kicking ass with his new lance and double jump FUCKING RIGHT DOGGY! Link to comment

I'll have to eventually play GPS's copy because I love FFIV oh so much. I had a emulated save game right before the moon from over the summer, so it'd be slightly disheartening to restart another game so soon but oh well. Link to comment
