amy
Are you like FRANCE: - Bore deeply into self and worldly experience to discover larger human spirit Or like BUDDHISM - Seek detachment from the self to obtain harmony with all existence and discover larger human spirit ??? Why ??? Assume it's not a false dichotomy (I don't know if it is or isn't) Link to comment
margot
I think both are interesting. I've read some of the vedas and buddhist texts and more than that I think it's interesting, like "vomiting up the apple" of logic and reason so you can see things the way they really are. We only call an arm an arm because that meaning/name has been assigned to it.. Link to comment
Samurai Drifter
Buddhism FTW. Link to comment
Ceraziefish
I think both are important, even necessary, to life as a person. Link to comment
amy
I guess the basic question is whether desire is good or evil. I broke down and said France, though as everyone is saying, both are very important. I live more Buddha-style, but only because I'm afraid. Link to comment
margot
honestly I think France always leads to realizing the futility of the french thought! then you turn to buddhism. Link to comment
cappy
Siddhartha was a hell of a book. Link to comment
Belial
France I think Buddha is a tad over rated. Link to comment
Battle_Pope
I think both work well in conjunction with each other, but ultimately it should be buddhism because of the whole death thing and being able to let go of everything you ever cared about. Link to comment
Pamuya
uh. i dont think i'm either and i have no idea what you're talking about Link to comment

margot
i was just thinking taoism is better than both of them. the more i did either of them the more i lost sight of myself. Link to comment
JesusTheNinja
What's got me wondering is if you could get to one through the other. Could you focus so deeply into yourself that you lose yourself and realize the universe? I don't think you could go Buddha ---> France, though. Link to comment
I live in your sock
French because I believe that you can only learn about yourself by digging deeper and deeper in to your thoughts to find what lies underneath. Kind of like dealing with a messy room; you can ether ignore it and be happy or clean it and be happy in a different way. Link to comment
