margot
which historical time/place would you feel most comfortable in?? I would like to be in civil war times, except a man obviously. People we so poetic then because photography wasn't really widespread but there was still great thinkers like Thoreau. "my love for you is deathless, it seems to bind me to you with mighty cables that nothing but Omnipotence could break; and yet my love of Country comes over me like a strong wind and bears me irresistibly on with all these chains to the battlefield." etcccc and things were modern enough to not be terrible but not so modern things were so corrupt! I bet the nature looked really nice. It would have been nice to live in a time that was more meaningful and honorable, and boy that was some facial hair. I don't really know how to describe it in words yo. Link to comment
Juxtapose
I would have loved to live in ancient Sparta. All I would have had to do is spit out a few babies and I get to live a life of luxury while my husband goes and fights the Athenians. ....Oh....and also have his lovers to occupy his time. Tee hee~ Link to comment
Crube
I see what you did there, Linds! Link to comment
Crube
? I don't know, for some reason I want to live right before and during the Great Depression in the United States. Link to comment
Ceraziefish
Damn, there's a lot of awesome choices there. I think, however, I will draw up a simple list. 1. Norway, circa 900 AD -- RAWR VIKINGS. Nothing more needs to be said. 2. England, circa 1805 AD -- Being in the English Navy at the point when they reached complete dominance over every other navy on Earth would've been rad. 3. Russia, circa 1917 AD -- If you don't know what happened in Russia in 1917 then you fail. Needless to say, I would've been partying it up with the Anarchists who wanted to continue the Revolution. 4. Arabia, circa 750 AD -- Conquering North Africa and Europe in the name of the Abbasid Caliphate would've been pretty sweet, too. Medieval Arabic culture has always interested me. And, of course, 5. Outer Mongolia, circa 1180... To witness Genghis Khan's birth and serve in his civil service. The Mongolians created an amazing society, after all. Link to comment
Belial
In the year 2062, a galaxy-wide war results in the union of all planets under the rule of the Red Star of the Solar Federation. The world is controlled by the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx, who determine all reading matter, songs, pictures . . . everything connected with life during the year 2112. In the midst of this assembly line living, a man (later identified as Belial) discovers what was once known years before as a guitar. The man begins to pluck the strings and turn the knobs, discovering that he can make his own music - a music very different from that of the Temples. He rushes to tell the priests of his discovery, but to the man's dismay, the priests destroy the instrument, saying it doesn't fit the plan of the Solar Federation. The man returns to the cave in which he found the guitar and, during a dream, is led by an oracle to a land of incredible beauty and serenity. Upon awakening, he can not believe it was a dream — the beauty was so real. He remains in the cave for several days, becoming more and more depressed with each passing hour. The man decides he can not go on as part of the Federation and takes his life to move on to a better one. As he dies, another planetary battle begins resulting in the (perhaps deliberately) ambiguous ending "Attention all planets of the Solar Federation: We have assumed control." Link to comment

amy
I think I'm meant to live now and feel out of place. But I really love the idea of subsistence farming during the Great Depression. Link to comment
