Have you ever really wanted to play a video game but you can't because it's too scary?

I love playing ocarina of time, but I seriously can't do it after he turns into an adult because those zombies scare me so much. Same for those hands in the forest temple.

what do we do?????

I think there were a few games like DOOM, Quake, Duke Nukem and a few others which, while I enjoyed playing, I found scary when I was little because of monsters.

Another I was scared of (because it's the only turn-based game to make me jump) is X-com: UFO defense. God, base missions filled me with dread. and Chryssalids are scary.

Oh hell yes. As awesome as UfO Defense and Terror of the Deep were, it scared the hell out of me during enemies turns when I could hear but not see them. And opening a door, ending up right in front of an alien, and having no action points left made me shit myself.

No matter how many lights or on or what time of day it is, I can never ever ever play any Silent Hill game for more than 10 minutes at a time.

FUCK YES!!!!

Silent Hill 2 especially..you should play it in surround sound, because when your walking in the forest, you can hear footsteps following you from behind, and when you turn around no ones there...and need I mention Pyramid Head and babys with scalpels.

Silent Hill...fucking masters of ambiance. There could be nothing, absolutely nothing in the room with you. And yet the effect that the sound effects or sometimes even just the silence produces makes you feel like when you turn around Pyramid Head is going to steal your soul. Also the whole rape thing in 3 or 4 [i fogtet] was a bit much for me.

Thief 3, "The Cradle" level. Period. Must be played in the dark on the pc, with the headphones on.

Oh god, I never even finished the game because I was on that level and got so freaked out that I was exploring, got jumped by some of those fuckers in there, and just booked it.

It sucks, because the level comes out of like nowhere. ;A; OMG patients are annoying to kill. LOTS of holy water. LOTS. And especially when you read all their journals. :( And it's just creepy seeing that they had an orphanage and insane asylum next to each other, and that some of the kids had to interact with patients.

Funny topic seeing as I was playing HL2: Episode 2 for the 3rd time last night while I was waiting for someone to show up at my apartment. I had the lights off because I had been working on a paper and just jumped into the game when I was bored, and I seriously couldn't handle it while playing in the subway section where you have to protect Alyx.

Anyways, I have played the entire Silent Hill series in the dark alone, and I will tell you that I have had to turn it completely off a few times and not play it for a day or two; I was scared shitless in SH3 when the mannequins head falls off as it screams in the Underground Apartment complex. F.E.A.R. has also managed to grab me a few times as well.

Although I wasn't too fond of SH4, the asylum for children was quite possibly one of the best environments the team has ever created. I loved how they had the "warden" show up in front of one of the cells, blocking the small amount of light coming into the room, it was brilliant.

When i was a kid, mario 2. whenever you stole that key from those masks, they chased you around, It freaked me out that they didn't ahere to the games physics, they just flew around trying to kill me. I had many a nightmare about those masks when i was young.

Last night I was playing Half-Life Source. I was running around on my way to the Lambda complex, after I lost all my weapons but right before I got the Tau Cannon. I was in one of the rooms with a cage full of headcrabs in the corner and I had just flicked the switch to kill them all. That little bit part played, so I left the room and walked around the corner... right into three marines. I freaked the fuck out. Adrenaline kicked in, I panicked and went nuts, running around and shooting. In retrospect I probably should've loaded and done the combat over since I lost so much health there but I didn't because it was so awesome.

I have decided that game was designed to be played alone, in the dark, with the sound up really loud. I, at least, get really into it.

Oh man... I hated that a lot! I try to get the key as fast as I can and get the fuck out of there!
