TeleportSandwich
I think I just failed my japanese lol final. I studied all weekend and yet I still had a really really heard time with the particles section (my biggest area of weakness). The only upside is that I managed to finish the damn test rather then leave it incomplete like so many other test I've taken throughout the year. If I fail or do poorly on this final then I do think I may have passed the class since I failed 5 out of the 19 test I took this year. I dunno what I would do If I had to take this class over again. I'm already supposed to be a senior in college and yet I have only about 58 credits, no real work expireance, no friends, and a GPA below a 3.0. At this rate I might as well quite college and join the Army or go to some lousy trade school or something. I just feel horrible right now and wish I were dead. edit: also, I suck at video games. I've never even been able to beat FFVII. I can't even beat the first level of Raiden X  Link to comment
darkon
A strategy guide should do the trick with FFVII. As for school help. Don't drink caffeine, go to sleep early, and study a few minutes every night. And I'm definitely pulling for you to work everything out dude. margot
yea, hayama. I don't know how to help really but I hope everything works out for you~ The only way I was able to do better in school was by forcing myself to study and do my homework every night. Link to comment
Alundra
Toight will decide if I have to take my History Of Modern Art class again. I failed the mid-term since the teacher asks rediculously difficult questions, and then doesn't say you can retake the test. Then he announced in class the other day that at 1PM the next day, you could re-take it. This announcement came at 10PM, and I had work at 7AM-12:30PM, and a class after that went right through the re-take time, which I thought was complete bullshit. Link to comment
amy
<3 I also hope you end up doing ok in the class and things work out. if you're thinking of quitting maybe you could take a year off to work/etc, then go back (are you allowed to do that?) or go like part time or something, I don't know. My friend's dad had trouble doing college all at once, so he took 10 years with only 4 of them actually at college, working in between and he graduated okay. (haha and my GPA is below 3.0 also. xD) Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
(haha and my GPA is below 3.0 also. xD) And it is funny for me that I'm getting A's and B's in my hard classes, and my intro 2 spanish and Algabra 2 classes I'm sucking. Link to comment
darkon
I had a 4.0 last quarter. <_< >_> I take easy classes... and two really hard classes. Link to comment
Anime Gee
Ah! Do not worry young man. I'm pretty sure that everything will work out, but the thing is that you have to make it work out. Yes. One must make lots of effort to obtain the things that one wants. Not to discourage you from going to college, but for some people, college might not be a good thing for them. Some people do much better in trade schools & some eventually get paid pretty good once they get into the trade. Maybe your not going to the right college either. The Army is not a bad idea to join either. Sometimes it helps out people with self discipline. My brother is a sergeant in the Army & my cousin is now in the National Guard making bank. It worked out really good for both of them & once my brother gets out of the military, he plans on going to UTI. http://www.uti-auto-tech.com/new_auto_tech.asp Yes. The military set both of them straight. So yeah. Sometimes there are other alternatives to school that can work out. Take those into consideration. (^o^ ) <3 Link to comment
Arcane
Yeah, college sucks. My GPA is probably going to take a nose dive once I get my grades in for this semester. I did pretty shitty in two classes, but my other class I did pretty damn well in. Fortunately I just changed my major, so I don't even need those two classes anymore... but it sucks that my GPA is going to be hurt more. It's already like a 2.8... but meh, I don't worry too much about these things. Life will go on. Link to comment

Unless there is some elitist kid who snaps and goes on a serial killing rampage, targeting low-GPA students. Then it is going to suck eh? I guess you and I will have to team up to take the menace down. Naturally one of us will be kidnapped by the killer and he/she will tell us their horrible plans and secrets. Then when death looks certain the one not captured will bust in an save the day, killing the serial killer in the process. *Venom is almost stabbed when several rounds are fired* Venom: Arcane!? Arcane: Hey partner. Venom: You son of a bitch! Ha ha, where were you? Arcane: It isn't important now. How about we go out for some coffee. No Sad Endings
Well, you know haya, you've definately got some learning disabilities, and judging from your spelling you could be dyslexic. Have you ever been given a full range type IQ test by psychologists or that sort of thing? No, I'm not being a smart ass here, I'm serious - if you know what areas you've got problems in, psychologists and educational professionals can give you a better idea of how to work with them. And your social difficulties? TOTALLY likely that they're related to your learning disabilities. Because social interaction is just another aspect of learning. Also, back to the dyslexia theory, dyslexics quite often have trouble with social interaction. If you haven't gotten tested for this stuff before, I STRONGLY suggest you do. You have no idea how much better it can make you feel just to know what's wrong, and how you can work with it. Really eases that helpless feeling. And also, in order to do well in college and get a good job, you need to know how to work with these things. Link to comment

I already know that I have a learning disability (no ones ever suggested that I could be dyslexic though). That really doesn't matter though. I hate having to acknowldege my disablities so I tend to use things like special testing accomidations as little as possible (usually only in math-internsive courses). And no, it does not make me feel any better that I know whats wrong with me. The fact that thier is something wrong with with the way I learn is bad, becuase that means I'm not the same as everyone else. And like my mom always says, saying that you do poorly in school becuase of a disablity is just an excuse. I just have to stop screwing around with animu crap all day in actually study more. You do have to actually study, but if someone's telling you it's just an excuse, they're just being ignorant. That's the same as looking at someone with down syndrome and saying "You can make straight A's in normal classes! Your 'disability' is just an excuse!" No, you and I aren't actually retarded, we're both intellegent, but that doesn't mean we don't have serious problems learning certain types of information. For me, it's math. Numbers confound and frighten me greatly. For you, well, I don't know what it is, but I know your spelling confounds and frightens me greatly as well And I thought you didn't want to be the same as everyone else? Mr anti-everything? xP People are not all alike, and some people can't function in a normal learning environment at all. Some of these people are stupid, and some of these people are actually highly intellegent, but either way, they can't cut it in a normal classroom, and that's not their fucking fault. I don't know why you feel ashamed of acknowledging you have learning disabilities, and I'm not trying to dismiss that feeling of anxiety (because believe me, I know ALL about anxiety, and it's nothing to wave off,) but I feel it's even more important that you face and get over that than "stop screwing around with animu crap and actually study more." Not that studying isn't important, mind, but you can't study efficently until you know HOW to study. And when you have learning disabilities, studying the "normal" ways just won't cut it. Experts in the field can help you, they can tell you how to get around these problems and make studying stick. And you know, if you like anime so much that your mom feels it's taking the place of you studying, have you ever thought of working in the industry? You should check that out. You'll be a lot more motivated to work hard if you're working towards something that matters to you. Link to comment

It was very difficult for me, but I've mostly gotten over it - spell checkers are my friend. And well, grammar? Oddly, I was always really good with grammar usage, but the technical bullshit study of it you go through (mostly in middle school) I was totally shit at. Like I said, you really need to get over feeling ashamed of LDs and work with them. You'll feel so much freer once you do, and anything you attempt, success will be so much easier to attain. It is just an excuse. Like when I go up to a guy in a wheelchair and he's using the excuse that his spine is broken so he can't walk, when in reality he is just lazy. ^ Point I was trying to make. Thiers a huge diffrence between a learning and a physical disability ya know. Its ALOT easier to overcome or at least manage a learning disability like mine. My cousin, on the other hand, is an entirely diffrent case. He's basically mentally retarded, unable to learn anything beyond the middle school level (poor kid can barely read). His case and cases like his are the only time I see fit not to call it "just an excuse". Link to comment

He's basically mentally retarded, unable to learn anything beyond the middle school level (poor kid can barely read). His case and cases like his are the only time I see fit not to call it "just an excuse". It's not that huge of a difference. Yes, you can manage a learning disability more easily than you can walk if you're a paraplegic, but in both cases, the difficulty is very real. AND in both cases, the proper treatement is PARAMOUNT. You're not going to break down a brick wall by ramming your head up against it over and over, you're going to break your HEAD, I mean, it's a brick wall. You have to have the proper tools and the proper strategy for breaking it down. Besides, that "excuse" shit just gets under my skin anyway. Who says I need an "excuse?" Who says I have any reason to overcome my difficulties? I do want to overcome them, for my own reasons, but I resent other people's presumptuousness in telling me I'm making "excuses." I don't need any excuses, thank you very much. If I don't want to do something, I don't have to. And I don't need to excuse myself with anything, learning disability or otherwise. WHY should I work so hard to overcome them? Unlike what most people seem to assume, that isn't just a given. If you don't have a reason, then you're not going to work hard. You're just going to beat yourself up because you think you're "supposed" to be working hard when you're not. Why do you want to overcome these problems, Haya? Is it for yourself, or just because society makes you feel ashamed for not doing it? Link to comment
