Who was the most influential person in twentieth century America?

Recommended Posts

This is an interesting, but vague question. I'd say Washington had a great influence on 20th century America, as did Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton, and Adams, but that's probably not how you meant it. In the way I think you meant it, I'd say Stalin ranks near the top, as do Hitler and MLK. Einstein can't be discounted, nor can Oppenheimer. TR and Wilson were very important in the early years. I could make a case for the guy who shot Mckinley (as a Buffalonian, I should know this) since he got TR into office. FDR did a lot for big gov't. Throw in Eisenhower, JFK,Patton and of course Colombus. Anybody I missed?
