Poophy
http://mangalorean.com/news.php?newstype=l...mp;newsid=41670 NEW ORLEANS (Louisiana), April 5: Five fifth-grade students face criminal charges after authorities said four of them had sex in front of other students in an unsupervised classroom and kept a classmate posted as a lookout for teachers. The students were arrested Tuesday at the Spearsville school in rural north Louisiana, authorities said. Two 11-year-old girls, a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year old boy were charged with obscenity, a felony. An 11-year-old boy, the alleged lookout, was charged with being an accessory. "After 44 years of doing this work, nothing shocks me anymore," said Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley. "But this comes pretty close." Authorities said the incident happened March 27 at the school, which houses students from kindergarten through 12th grade. A high school teacher normally watches the fifth-grade class at the time, but went to an assembly for older students and the class was inadvertently left unattended, Buckley said. (Watch authorities try to determine if a crime was committed ) The class, which had around 10 other students, was alone for about 15 minutes, he said. "When no teacher showed up, the four began to have sex in the classroom with the other elementary students in the classroom with them," he said. It took a day for authorities to find out about the incident. A student who had been in the class told a high school student about it the next day, Buckley said. The student told a teacher, and school officials notified the sheriff's office. Detectives began questioning students Thursday. School officials did not return calls seeking comment. The students, who were not identified because of their age, were released to their parents after their arrests, Buckley said. They will next be arraigned in juvenile court. A message seeking comment from the district attorney was not immediately returned. Buckley said it was unclear what penalties the children could face. AP I was going to put this in stupid news but I was too lazy to go and find it… Link to comment
Svenska Aeroplan
Distrubing yes, but can it really be a crime if they were all underage and acting on their own? Link to comment
noodle
FUCKING WEIRD. *high fives 5th graders* Link to comment
Proserpexa
Because when a teacher left the classroom in the 5th grade, my reaction was naturally "omg the teacher's gone let's have sex." and wtf is a 13 year old doing in the 5th grade? Link to comment
Svenska Aeroplan
and wtf is a 13 year old doing in the 5th grade? Having sex apparently. :awesome: Link to comment
Anime Gee
Hahahahahaha!! I find that hilariously awesome, although it isn't. (^o^ ) <3 Link to comment
Galkar
They shouldn't be charged. If they were in fifth grade doing this in front of their class they clearly had no idea what they were doing. To charge them with a felony is ridiculous. Link to comment
margot
That's really terrible. I think any punishment would be out of line, but they obviously need therapy. Link to comment
Galkar
That's really terrible. I think any punishment would be out of line, but they obviously need therapy. Exactly. The fact that as soon as the room was unsupervised they suddenly started going at it seems to show that something is wrong. Link to comment
The Lone Magician
We all know that the real reason this happened is that the teacher refused to have sex with them and left the room. Link to comment
Ceraziefish
Yeah, really, I don't see much of a problem here, except that all those kids who were having sex should have therapy. Link to comment
Satan
I wonder how much therapy would help. What exactly is the problem and how does therapy address it? I think that until those questions are answered, any therapy would be pointless. Felonies for kids under 14 is ridiculous. Legal penalties would be pretty useless in my opinion Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
Why would they need Therapy? Link to comment
Natsu
Hmmm...Louisiana...<scratches head> Link to comment
DreamerGirl
When I was 13 a girl in my grade got pregnant, so it's not like it doesn't happen. (Then again, I wasn't in 5th grade at 13.) But the fact they did this in public in front of people like some sort of show? Therapy might help, but I think the kids need to be taken away from the homes they're in. You don't exactly learn that from books about where babies come from if you know what I'm saying..... Link to comment
Ceraziefish
My mom told me about sex when I was eight, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I also don't think there's anything wrong with kids having sex at eleven or twelve, if they want to. It's a little young, and if they ask my advice I'd tell them to wait, but still. Link to comment
Tanni Foemangler
Hmmm...Louisiana...<scratches head> when i was back there a couple years ago my cuz from Texas told me some horrible little ditty about all girls in Louisiana losing their virginity before the sixth grade. i wish i could remember how it went... Satan
But you recognize that where they decided to have sex was obviously a poor choice and thus indicates that they aren't mature enough to make the decision to have sex, right? they're fifth graders, they shouldn't be mature enough to make the decision to have sex Link to comment
Samurai Drifter
Only in the deep south would a 13-year-old fifth grader start an elementary school orgy after the teacher left the room for 15 minutes. :awesome: Link to comment
margot
they're fifth graders, they shouldn't be mature enough to make the decision to have sex mos def. and little kids generally don't have biological urges(?) to have sex, when they do it's a sign of mental trauma. Link to comment
Galkar
I understand CF's idea and I would agree with him in an ideal world, but I think that given the immense social connotations that are attached to sex, whether or not they should be, make it so that kids in the 5th grade aren't old enough to be making that decision. I definitely think there's a huge difference between fifth graders having sex at home, and fifth graders having sex in front of a classroom. Hence the therapy. I've known plenty of people who had sex for the first time around that age. They weren't bad people by any means, just different. Link to comment
