Galkar
I also enjoy medieval choir music. The last piece from Carmena Burana (I have no idea how it's actually spelled) is AMAZING. Link to comment
Mithrandir
Uhh... you do know that although Carmina Burana's text was based on a medievel collection of poetry, the music was composed in 1937 by Carl Orff. Link to comment
Galkar
Yeah, but it was, to my understanding, a direct arrangement of the medieval music for orchestra. Link to comment
Samurai Drifter
The Mannheim Steamroller arrangement of "O Come O Come Emmanuel" is based off of Gregorian chants, thus proving said chants rock... hardcore! Edited January 9, 2006 by Samurai Drifter Link to comment
Mithrandir
Yeah, but it was, to my understanding, a direct arrangement of the medieval music for orchestra. I pretty sure that although there was notation that gave an idea of how it parts of it were supposed to sound, all of the actual music was composd by Orff. I'm also fairly sure that that music that sounds even remotely like anything modern or classical that came from pre-rennasiance europe either didn't survive to the present or didn't exist in the first place. Galkar
I did not know that. I'm guessing that then means that the parts that I liked weren't authentic medieval music. Damn. Link to comment
Crube
The Gregorian Chants in the Iron Maiden song "Sign of The Cross" kicks ass! Link to comment
