yea I agree, its not a bad song, but at this point I feel Dream theater is a really recycled band, hopefully the rest of the album will serve up something different.

DARK ETERNAL NIGHT IS GODLIKE

HOLY FUCK AT THAT JAZZ PART IN THE MIDDLE.

The main riff is so groovy, and the outro is like an even tripper version of the misunderstood outro but better.

who knows yet though dude, The Dark Eternal Night could be the Burning My Soul (i hated FII xD) of Systematic Chaos. I seem to remember you freaking out about Octavarium too :laugh:

FII was great bro... just funkier than other stuff. A couple mainstream tracks and whatnot but that was forced by the label. They got theyre freedom back with the release of SFAM and Octavarium was rushed a bit to fufill the last album on the contract with Atlantic.

I still love octavarium, I can see why people don't like it though, but It def was to fufill the wishes of the label so they could get the fuck out of theyre control. Now that they are on Roadrunner they have total freedom and better promotion, I can tell by the two leaked songs and the leaked clips throughout this album that it will be theyre best in a long time.

I don't care what anyone says, for Dream Theater being a band thats been around for like 25 years and still progressing musically and making interesting stuff you gotta give them big credit.

How many bands release nothing but magic for 25 years of albums? Even the best progressive bands from the 70's have like 3 or 4 albums that are ranked as being bad, Dream Theater may have... one? or two if you dislike octavarium...

It's a decent song, alot of Dream Theaters I don't like much at first. Then I listen to them like 20 more times then 30 times then 40 times then I realize I actually am addicted to the song and then its one of my favs. Dream Theater does that for me.

Oh dude I'm not saying I disliked Octavaium, I liked it, but I don't think it lived up to the hype and wasn't as good as most that was before it. FII was the first DT album I heard and I just couldn't get into it. Oh well, I'll give it another listen soon. I was using FII as a comparrison in saying that an album can't be judged by just two leaked songs, one terrible quality for that matter. I see what your saying though, Dream Theater for the most part, does not make bad music.

And I agree with your assertions on them too! It's fuckin great that they've been around so long maintaining and continuasly furthering their status as a fuckin great prog metal band. But just cause they're a great band and have been around a few decades doesn't exclude them from critisism man! :headbang:
