Those New Fangled Diet Soda Pops

Recommended Posts

With all the media hype surrounding the negative effects of artificial sweeteners I felt it was time to discuss this topic for realz.

What do you think? Are these sweeteners really dangerous or is it part of a campaign to destroy the soft beverage market?

I think they're dangerous, for reals, worse than plain cola even though that's gonna give you diabetes and all kinds of crazy stuff too. Aspartame gives me a bad headache, sweet and low was proven to cause cancer, and we know basically nothing about splenda because it was just invented.

I don't trust any processed foods.

The more soda you guys drink though, the more soda bottles I can return for money :hardgay:

I hate any "diet" beverage with an unbelievable passion! They're so fucking gross! ('x' ) !

You know what trips me out? "Yeah, I'll have a double cheeseburger with chili, chili fries with cheese, & a diet coke." What the fuck is that? Hahahaha!! I DIET COKE WITH HALL THAT CRAP!

But yeah, I think in the long run those artificial sweeteners will probably 'cause damage to some people.

Because some people like the taste? I guess that is all I can come up with.

Aspartame metabolizes into formaldehyde in your bloodstream :hardgay: It is a neurotoxin :hardgay:

The way I look at it you shouldn't drink too much soda anyway. For a very short term diet the artificial sweeteners probably don't pose a significant risk, but in the long term, stay away from that shit, man.

I always chew sugar-free gum, though, can't stand the shit that's got sugar in it, makes my mouth taste like ass and I chew gum to freshen my breath, not make it worse. That's a pretty small amount, though, and I don't chew gum every day.

Aspartame produces VERY little formaldahyde that it doesn't pose a threat to your body. Incidentally, there are more methanol in natural juices and some alcoholic (if not all.) than diet cokes, which basically came from ingestion of formaldahyde. You also have to remember that formaldahyde and methanol are natural by products of human metabolism and are then safely processed by other enzymes.

According to the writings of a couple of different actual doctors I've read, it does pose a threat to your body. Not, like, a huge one, but it's yet another toxin your body doesn't need to deal with. Especially if you already have any health issues going on.

Uhm... I don't know if I mentioned this, but formaldahyde and methanol naturally occur in human bodies via natural metabolism and are soon safely processed by several enzymes.

Uhm, Crube, it's not that I don't believe you, it's that I'm inclined to take the writings of an actual medical doctor over your word. XD

Lots of things occur naturally in the body, that doesn't mean adding more of it is necessarily a good thing.

It's okay... I just didn't take health class for fun.
