I just can't seem to get turned on. It didn't really bother me before, but I have had a boyfriend for quite some time now and we are having sex. It doesn't hurt because I do get wet, and I do enjoy the closeness of sex but it is bugging me that I can not get anything but emotional pleasure from it.

I haven't always had this issue: some years back I was pretty active sexually (masturbating and watching porn, that is) and I had no trouble getting horny at all. I did not know it was a normal thing to do, though, so I just quit at around the age of twelve. At first I found it quite hard not to touch myself but that went away after some time. I am sixteen now and I just can not manage to get turned on anymore. Does anyone know what to do about this? I really want be able to enjoy sex more.

Try getting drunk.

the loss of inhibition may allow you to reconnect with your sex drive.

It might not work but it's worth a shot.

(word of advice: try this when you're alone, not in a social setting like a party. Use the alcohol as a method of self exploration)

okay enough jokes. it might also have something to do with who your having sex with. im guessing that they aren't that great. or idunno, maybe you have a weird diet. i know that sometimes when i eat a lot of fast food i just feel like crap and don't feel like doing anything.

Oftentimes (well... a couple times, not often) I'll want to do the no-pants dance and my girlfriend won't want to. I dunno if it's similar, but it's certain that different people have different sex drives.

This sounds like it might be different, though. Try alcohol, I guess, if you're comfortable with that sort of thing.

If you used to experience sexual desire and you no longer do, then you've either you've caused yourself some sort of psychological inhibition or you have a physical medical problem. Seeing a doctor and make sure there's nothing physically wrong with you should be your first priority. If there's nothing physically wrong with you, a therapist should be able to help you get to the bottom of it.

No idea, but it's an interesting diversion.

Plus, you know, we are all so incredibly well versed in the in's and out's of the mechanics of sexuality.
