Ok, I've decided to start using some online dating sites to meet people. I'm just so incredibly lonely right now.

So I need to write a compelling description of myself. You guys know me pretty well, so tell me what I should write in order to attract a woman much like myself via the miracle of internet dating.

Just toss out suggestions (serious ones would be preferred) and I'll sort them out.

No idea, but she's a good five years older than me. Plus, she definitely seems more like friend material.

Ok, well for starters you can talk about what you like and dislike, what your passionate about, maybe what you want out of life. (I'm just going by what I saw on the ones I looked at for my psychology paper last year.) ^^;;

When it comes right down to it, you shouldn't need to have other people tell you who you are.

They say you'll never love another until you love yourself. I can respect you being lonely, I honestly can. But I really don't think you should parrot yourself through the mouths of others in order to try to attract someone. Be yourself, and write the way you feel.

I understand the sentiment, but I've been going through some serious shit in terms of relationships lately. I'm just not in a place right now where I can see myself in a light where someone else would find me attractive. I know that I need to get past all that crap, but the only way I know how to do that is by meeting people and having some kind of social life, and this is my best shot at getting that.

If I used one of those sites I would put in big letters "I WAS A REAL DORK IN HIGH SCHOOL, NOW I AM AWKWARD BUT FRIENDLY, AND I DON'T REALLY DO DRAMA, AND YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY ME THINGS."

I don't know if it's best to be honest but I'm sure there are tons of girls that would want to date you even if you are kind of screwed up right now. Just say some mundane things about yourself I guess, how much you like to hang out/"party" and then what books/music you like and people are gonna extrapolate probably correctly

I'm probably going to be flamed for saying this but just get a MySpace. You meet friends through friends, can search people in your city, etc. It's not so big on... advertising because that's not all that's on there.
