2 Fired After Nude Photo Causes Controversy

Recommended Posts

The Article

(no nudity in link, although if you removed the face blur and add on stripe, you'd have toplessness, which still isn't nudity but that's an entire separate topic.)

Basically, 15 year old a cheerleader and her 19 year old coach were photographed topless at a party. Held, I believe, by a second coach who apparently supplied alcohol? The question here is should papers be able to report stories like this and then put a strip though all the good parts.

^^

there are 3 good topics here

1) under aged drinking - is 15 too young to drink/to drink socially?

2) what do you feel about students and teachers maintaining social contact outside of school.

3) is it reasonable that a girl is penalized for a behavior that wouldn't even be noted among guys?

I choose this topic because I was interested where, if anywhere, people would go with it, and also because it strays largely away from the more political issues in this section, but also sits in various contested grounds.

but, for that matter, let's offer up a number 4.

4) is it appropriate to include humor when discussing serious issues?

obviously the problem is the picture is censored. Duh. even if they did have to blur the 15 year old, there was still the matter of the 19 year old. :p

Didn't seem to be the point of your thread before.

One post down, one more to go.

Let's see...

statutory rape laws (applicable or not)?

pornography (child pornography vs drunken party)?

HS partiesL shit happens vs lawful ideal?

What's she being charged with, is the punishment too much?

I think we can find some serious topics in there somewhere..

also, Cleese now that you're mod, I'm probably going to be asking questions to try to figure out exactly what is and isn't allowed/approved of/encouraged.

For starters, are you objecting to the matter as not SD&D worthy or just to the OP's (sunce that's who you've focused on) handing of it?

There are still the rules posted by Reinas, I only added one. This is a SD&D forum and should be that way. Threads like this (its a link not emphasis) aren't SD&D, this thread was heading in that direction.

Pretty much the only reason I had issue with this thread, just keep it SD&D, not saying it has to be all dry and boring, just relevant to the section.

Probably, but I wouldn't stop anyone.

I think it's a fine idea. I hung out with my teachers all the time after class in high school. I maintain contact with some of my professors now that I'm at college.

I think it's stupid that anyone cares. It's just boobs, nothing we haven't all seen before.
