amy
so whenever you get a $20 bill, get rid of it as quickly as possible, and crumple it all up, and scribble on it with pencil, so they have to recall it fast Link to comment

amy
ololol (I am sure you're in the right place) you know he had an adopted Creek son named Lyncoya. Lyncoya died of a lung disease (TB?) at age 16, and he said that the moral was God never meant whites and Indians to coexist (Trail of Tears of course - after it was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, he wittily quipped, Well, let the Supreme Court enfoce that. Hahaha) and he appointed "Justice" Taney who later supported the Dred Scott decision, which ruled that legally slavery could exist in all states. He said: "There are no necessary evils in government. Its evils exist only in its abuses." "Any man worth his salt will stick up for what he believes right, but it takes a slightly better man to acknowledge instantly and without reservation that he is in error." Here is his grave check out the grass, man Link to comment

amy
I like those two quotes. He told the SUPREME COURT to go ENFORCE ITS OWN RULING And I guess he couldn't acknowledge that he was wrong cause he was an entitled white supremacist till the day he died http://ngeorgia.com/history/nghisttt.html Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
and you hate the black people! He told the SUPREME COURT to go ENFORCE ITS OWN RULING Well you didn't say that is where those quotes are from. Should of been more specific. But if taken out of that context and put in a more general sense, it is probably what he believed and it is very ture. Just by reading them I can't see anything racist or wrong about the quotes. I can see how they can be used for those purposes. Link to comment
amy
it's funny cause he never acknowledged he was in error, and because he abused his position. Link to comment

Juxtapose
Well....as my history teacher told me: You have to imagine yourself during those times. People believed differently then they do now. So in other words, if you were raised during those times....how do you think you would've acted? Link to comment
No Sad Endings
I like those two quotes. Obviously those quotes are nice quotes, the point is THEY ARE IRONIC xD Link to comment

As an intellegent and educated person I assume I would oppose those things. Like intellegent and educated people did then, too. That's just the thing. Andrew Jackson was neither very intellegent nor very educated. xD Link to comment
Juxtapose
I think he even got plastered during his inauguration party~ xD ....Or I might be thinking of somebody else. :x Link to comment
No Sad Endings
I think that was ol' andrew, actually. He was a total hick, man. It's like my history teacher in HS said, how he was all on about being a working man's president, and it wasn't neccesary to have a high level of education to be president, and the government should be on level with the people, and all that kinda bullshit. Andrew Jackson didn't want it so anyone could be president. He wanted it so he could be president. Link to comment

amy
i can understand people in Canada not knowing who he is (xD The only president of another country I know is like Winston Churchill) :P What I can't understand is US citizens thinking there's something okay about this guy. I was so disappointed to see that his grave was still standing. I imagined it would be covered with graffiti and cracking apart from tourist guns. If you look on all these websites, they endorse him. What the fuck. Britt, even by 1826 standards, Jackson was radically anti-black and native. The Supreme Court's verdict against the Trail of Tears should show that. I think Martin Luther King should go on the $20 bill, but Jefferson would be ok as well Link to comment
