my first watercolor ever

Recommended Posts

so yeah, first attempt at a watercolor painting. for the most part i think it turned out pretty rad, but i need to talk to my teacher about removing some of the paint from the kid's face. it pops out WAY too much

this pic, while blurry, has the correct colors

and this one captured details, but the colors are all gnarly

i'll probably bask in the radness of my first official watercolor for a while before i attack it with other media and make it into a MASTERPIECE

Looks awesome. Nice job.

If you want the clearer one to have the colors of the blurry one, do this:

First, copy and paste the clear one into photoshop. Then copy and paste the blurry one into a new layer above the regular one, and set the blending mode to "color".

TheSmokingGun: Through our intense investigative reports, we have found that this is no more TCZ's first watercolor piece than the Mona Lisa was Da Vinci's first painting. It turns out that back in elementary school he used watercolor paints in art class. If that's not official, nothing is. TCZ's first watercolor......... Debunked.

Venom: Thanks TheSmokingGun!

Oprah: *steams* Well, it's not the place of the art's order, it's the quality. *walks away, scheming*

guess this is as good a time as any to do my big "respond to as much as i can" post

vampy:

Whoa man, that's AWESOME. Only thing I would say would make it better is give more definition to the background/sky somehow.

i thought about putting more silhouettes behind the kid, but i didn't want to risk botching the painting by throwing a bunch of stuff in that i wasn't sure about

Fucking amazing man...

your gonna do my bands album art right ?:huh::smile:

hells yeah dude. but if it's a pro bono deal, don't expect a strict deadline

That's great.

Adolf Hitler would be envious of your water color skills.

awwww, someone's never heard of tempera paint. the closest i've come to doing a painting with watercolors before was when this airbrush legend gave our class a quick lesson last year and WC's were his paint of choice

**everyone else, tanks fer the encouragement

Which does in fact prove that this is not your first watercolor. Oh yeah!
