Title: Freedom Fighters

Release Date: October 1, 2003

Platform: PC (also released for Gamecube, Xbox, and Playstation 2. The PC version can be found in the World of EA Games collection)

Developer: IO Interactive

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Story: There's a whole big back history here, but all you really need to know is that in the game's timeline World War II was won by the Russians by setting off an atomic bomb in Berlin. Having taken over most of the world by the time we get to the present, Russia now plans to "liberate" the United States. You are Chris Stone, an average plumber in Brooklyn hired to take care of a ordinary job when a bunch of Russians invade the hotel you are in at the time and kidnap your co-worker who's also your bother. Partnering with another resident inside the hotel, you take up arms and become part of the resistance vowing to drive away the Russian invaders.

Sure Asia, Europe, and most of the world couldn't do it. But maybe a bunch of new yorkers who don't have much real combat expirence can! America, FUCK YEAH!

-- Introduction --

Freedom Fighters, originally titled Freedom: The Battle For Liberty Island early in development, was a bit of a departure for Danish developer IO Interactive. Their first game series was Hitman, a game that focused mainly on stealth. Freedom Fighters however focuses heavily on squad based run and gunning. It also features a charisma meter, where the more heroic stuff you preform the higher your status goes up and lets your squad fight more skillfully and also lets you recruit more members.

But the most memorable thing that could be taken away from Freedom Fighters in the end is probably the amazing score by Jasper Kyd and the Hungarian radio choir.

Part 2 is finally up. Youtube part 2.

A lot of stuff got in the way since the first video but most of that is sorted out now so new updates should be coming in faster. Plus I got to feel out Camtasia a bit more and learnt some things that will come in handy to spruce up the series like transitions and highlighting things.

EDIT: The Viddler link comes out broken in this post for some reason, so here's the non-hotlinked version. http://www.viddler.com/explore/JStopSeven/videos/2/
