Western feminist trying to kill Japnese eroga industry

Don't know how to feel about this. Started off with people in the U.S. finding out about hentai rape simulators such as Rape Lay. What fallowed was an outright ban of rape-themed games by the EOCS (think of them as the ESRB for hentai games) becuase of the controversy. Now its seems they want to ban almost every kinky fetish themed game under the sun (odley enough yaoi and shota arn't affected). Is this a case of the west overreaching once again and acting like the world police? Or should these kinds of games really be outright banned even if they usually never reach western shores?

I don't really think this is an east vs. west thing. Cultures have different approaches to sex, of course, but I'm sure there's plenty of people in Japan who aren't exactly thrilled their country is known for rape simulators.

Still, though, freedom of speech, etc etc, keep makin' the rape simulators, just don't tell me about it.

i agree.

there are many japanese feminists, despite what wide eyed yellow fever guys would have you believe...

is it even really a "feminist" issue to be disturbed by rape simulators though? sounds like a "normal person" thing (not that there's anything wrong with feminists)

about taking issue over other kinky things like threesomes i agree that's pretty unwarranted though.

also that website is pretty gross. if you regularly visit that website i think it should be illegal for you to go to japan ever.

Sounds like an over-reaction from Japan. Really it would just make more sense to stop exporting this kind of thing.

Here is the thing though: the game that started all this whole fiasco was found on amazon being sold by a user, not Amazon. While thier are hentai games available domestically none of them are of the Rape Lay level of disturbing. I would have no problem if these games where made unavailable in the U.S. (afterall, online filesharing has made purchasing such stuff pointless), I would say having a foreign entity forcing another country to ban a certain type of game becuase they find it offensive is a bit like playing worldwide morality police

On the other hand; the concept of a rape simulation game is pretty fucking disturbing.

i think it would be good to examine society though... japan has much lower levels of sexual violence than u.s. afaik, despite all the messed up porn/hentai they have, because of real material differences in our cultures. i would rather promote changing of real social american norms&conditions rather than just banning rape games (though most feminists do too of course). though i believe america can't really handle rape games atm of course so i can see where wanting to ban it comes from.

God damn it. Fucking feminazis should go jump off a cliff. I hate moral crusaders who think they know what's best for everyone.

My question is, does this only effect games, or also regular porn / hentai and hentai manga as well?

lol feminazi. The perfect straw(wo)man.

I have no issues with people having trouble with rape, loli, some BDSM, and so on. I totally side with people who say that's fucked up and bad. I in fact think that most porn is unacceptable.

It does seem extreme though, but is there any proof that this isn't the board overreacting to reasonable criticism?

There is a lot of it I don't like. Some of the crazy shit I've seen in Japanese porn, and especially hentai, even sets off my moral alarm, and that's really hard to do. But at the same time, I do like some things some people would think are horrible, so I don't have any room to judge. As long as it's just paid actors or drawings, people should mind their own business.

The rape games we're always something of an issue in Japan. They weren't as quietly accepted or ignored like people seem to believe. This was a long time coming and is - honestly a good decision in my mind. That only extends so far as rape games are concerned, however.

Censorship is a slippery slope. Disturbing as it is, some people like it, and they have every right to so long as they don't hurt anyone.

Read the immaturity in this journalists writing.

and at the point he (has to be a he) is trying to make, If your rape games didn't bring you out of financial crisis yet, how are they going to start?

and seriously the concern over studios current creating games and products... HOW HARD IS IT REALLY TO DEVELOP A CRAPPY HENTAI GAME? Seriosuly. Like lets look at Final Fantasy IV for the SNES, then some shitty hentai rape rom from the same era.

20 dollar budget?!

This hasn't changed much from screenshots I looked up just now. It really is like the most emotionless, lame, disturbing game genre ever.

About RAPE LAY or whatever.

SPOILER: SHE FAILS.

When you first play through RapeLay, each girl is presented one at a time in a three-scene series. During the first scene, the unsuspecting target waits in front of the train station. For a train. At this point, you — the deranged gamer pretending to be a rapist — have two choices.

Option One: Stare at the girl with creepy narrow stalker eyes.

Option Two: Exercise shamanistic Peruvian powers to summon a gust of wind. Instead of defending the world from diabolical cultists, you use this ability to blow womens' skirts up, revealing their pretty white panties.

Now begins the heavy petting drama.

Once aboard the train, you'll engage in a "groping" scene. Basically, you control a disembodied hand with the mouse. You can fondle, pat, or stroke the poor girl to your heartless soul's content — even when she gets fed up and swats the hand away, she can't ever escape from the most intangible villain since Lucifer Alpha. She just looks really, really uncomfortable.

"Who... who's there?" Yuuko is unable to locate her assailant, even though there are only four or five people on the train. The other girls aren't any smarter. If they scowl when you jiggle their breasts, just move your hand and massage... down there. Maybe your arms are invisible, like in Elfen Lied. Maybe the girls are just stupid. Either way, you have to fondle the women as their Horniness Meter slowly, slowly, slowly creeps its way up to the limit.

Crazy people — the types who try to rationalize virtual rape fantasies — might claim that these "groping" scenes are built upon the principles of diligence and delayed gratification. Me, I say they're boring and pointless, since you can't possibly lose.

--------------

^ This is obviously made for people that can't get laid, or if they tried to get laid would involve rape, so they beat off to doing it to animated girls in a video game instead.... I'll stop posting til someone else posts...

but first

---------------

RapeLay even keeps track of how many times you cum inside each girl (that's what the nakadashi count is for), so you're encouraged to rape them repeatedly in every orifice. Then you can boast to friends about your nakadashi achievements, unless your friends happen to disapprove of rape.

ROFL

Through his penis.

Through his tiny shriveled unwanted penis.

Oh and I'm not sure how I stand on the issue, I mean rape games are fucked up and weird and I wouldn't really mind if they were banned but I wouldn't want that same argument used against GTA games and others.

"If you beat a hooker up in GTA you must be one sadistic person"

or "Killing cops in vidya games leads to real life violence"

Well I think there's a difference to the often cartoonish violence in GTA and a game that involves nothing but and can only be played as a visceral simulation of rape.

I mean, I obviously have issue with governments mandating things like this, but I would hope any voluntary associated community would as well, so I have no issue with the spirit behind it.

Maybe the first three and the spin offs, but IV is anything but cartoonish. There is no "good" way of playing the game. You will have to massacre a bunch of cops, you will have to point guns at completly innocent people and kill them, you will have to kidnap a innocent girl, tie her up with rope, and punch her in the face in order to advance in the game.

Not that I'm defending Rapelay, it's just that saying GTA isn't as visceral in some of the objectives you need to do to advance in the game compared to Rapelay is a little ridiculous.

Also, disgusting as it is (and seriously Rapelay is tame compared to some doijins that are officially distributed), this and other games won't be banned from being sold all together. Just from store shelves. It's fully legal for the publisher to digitally distribute it. Which is probably how they make most of their money anyway.
