Paramedics revived Jackson before taking him to the hospital.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda told CNN a 911 call came in from a west Los Angeles residence at 12:21 p.m.

Ruda said Jackson was treated and transferred to the UCLA Medical Center.

Asked specifics of the patient's condition, the spokesman said he could not discuss them because of federal privacy laws.

New updates, reposting old info too:

At the medical center, every entrance to the emergency room was blocked by security guards. Even hospital staffers were not permitted to enter. A few people stood inside the waiting area, some of them crying.

Brian Oxman, a Jackson family attorney, said he was told by brother Randy Jackson that Michael Jackson collapsed at his home in west Los Angeles Thursday morning.

Some are saying he's in a coma right now, but others are saying he's dead. Not confirmed at the moment.

EDIT: LA Times has confirmed he is dead.

I honestly don't really care that he died. I'm sure it's hard on his family and stuff, but I don't really care. Celebrity deaths don't bother me, unless it's John Ritter.

Mostly this, though at the same time, its always sad to see a fellow human being fall into a such a fantastically destructive downward spiral like Jackson did at the end of his career. I guess its a fine line between genius and insanity.

It's a shame he had to go the way he did as well as have the opportunists cash in on his every move and bring him down towards the latter part of his career.

The man's been looking bad since around the time of his last trial. I think the stress of having every single aspect of his life put out on public display took a serious toll on his psyche.
