HappyLittleBoozer
Performance by an actor in a leading role Philip Seymour Hoffman in “Capote” I like Hoffman but what group of people gives a shit about Truman Capote? Whoever they are... they need a hobby. Why make a fucking film?! Terrence Howard in “Hustle & Flow” WTF?!!! It's like the Affirmative Action of Oscar Noms? WHO FUCKING CARES?! Thanks to Halle fucking Barry, stupid white people feel it necessary to nominate one black person... arbitrarily! Fuck! Heath Ledger in “Brokeback Mountain” Gay Cowboys... FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK FUCK FUCK!!! DON'T FUCKING CARE! NEXT!!! Joaquin Phoenix in “Walk the Line” Johnny Cash... Ahhhhhh, a great musician. No suprise that Hollywood would capitalize on his death. You nominate a guy for doing a flaccid impersonation of a dead artist (elvis impersonation quality) yet you don't nominate the artist for the music that makes the movie what it is? Fuck you. David Strathairn in “Good Night, and Good Luck.” Politics in the oscars? Noooooooo... Fuck you twice. Performance by an actor in a supporting role George Clooney in “Syriana” Matt Dillon in “Crash” Paul Giamatti in “Cinderella Man” Jake Gyllenhaal in “Brokeback Mountain” William Hurt in “A History of Violence” Yeah, I skipped the rest of them. At least this catagories is good. Luckily, I have the warm caress of Jon Stewart's wit to help me through the banality of the other films nominated. “Howl’s Moving Castle” Hayao Miyazaki “Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride” Tim Burton and Mike Johnson “Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit” Nick Park and Steve Box Achievement in art direction We all like art direction... but we all hate sitting through technical awards. GummyBearOfDoom
If you guys didn't see the movie Capote go see it. It's about the author Truman Capote and what was going on when he was writing the book "In Cold Blood" which I am actually reading now. Philip Seymour Hoffman did an amazing acting job and I loved the movie. Link to comment

Unless they're boring, which 90% of them are. At least with asian films you have a chance of there being a gun fight or kung fu. At least the horror genre is ripe in foreign countries, otherwise, they're pretty bankrupt in new, interesting movies. Link to comment

And with horror flicks, i'm sure Asians >>>> All, but I just don't really pay attention to the horror genre... Link to comment

FatFree
I was hoping Batman Begins would get more nominations than this. I'm not really in the mood to complain about gay cowboys. Link to comment
Mithrandir
Hmm... well I'm not getting the Capote hate. He was a very interesting man and an extremely important literary figure. I'm also not getting the Brokeback Mountain hate. I mean, it may have been a bit slow, but there really wasn't anything wrong with it (unless of course you have some retarded moral issue against homosexuality). Link to comment

Venom112
Aaah, I was hoping for a good heartfelt/lengthy rant on the oscars, but Set skipped a majority of the topics and then just gave a formulaic one response line of "fuck, this is stupid. Next!" Except for leading actors, which I'll assume means that Set wanted to rant about everything, but got bored with the sheer number of topics presented to him. William Hurt in “A History of Violence” Yeah, I skipped the rest of them. Why? BECAUSE NO ONE FUCKING CARES! This was not only so under the radar that I'm surprised it was nominated for anything but it's the only movie so far that you could get me to pay to see. "under the radar"? Are you kidding? History of Violence was one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year, which I'll never understand because the movie was teeeerrrrriiiiiible. It sucked so bad in fact that I assumed it was going to create a vacuum into which all matter would be placed into oblivion. Thank god the mocking laughter of the theater audience, due to the film's banality and lousy, well, everything (except Ed Harris), was enough to quell this beast. why? The acting and direction were both really good.... I'll tell you why. It's because of GLAAD. They are a ruthless organization that is just as bad as PETA. Should Brokeback Mountain win, GLAAD will harp on and on about the changings of times and oh the glorious celebrations they will hold. Should it not win anything though, GLAAD will cry discrimination, which isn't true, it's just that the Academy Awards almost always arbitrarily choose the victor for most of the awards, over subjects which actually deserve it. The latter not only cuts GLAAD down (because they need it, bad), but it is more humorous. Sad that such a movie should be passed over because of non-movie reasons, but hey, the Academy Awards choose winners for the oscar that just about never have to do with the merits of the film anyway, so it isn't like it is unusual. It was a 'rundown'. I believe I ran it down well. I skipped a bunch of stuff because I was conveying the sense of "don't care" about most of the uninteresting topics given to me. "under the radar"? It was under the radar because few people actually saw it. It wasn't talked about very much either. If you have to look for the critic acclamations, then it's pretty much under the radar. 2. It couldn't have been terrible... Why? Cronenberg. It's just you. Link to comment

Speaking of which, what is the deal with that? If the audience hates it, critics love it. If the audience loves it, critics hate it. 2. It couldn't have been terrible... Why? Cronenberg. It's just you. No, trust me, it's not. Even Hitchcock made some bad films here or there. Heck, even Cronenberg made "A History of Violence," which was terrible. Link to comment
