Akito
This thing is a worthless piece of shit. During the installation, it asks me to insert it into the USB port and then wait a moment. After that, it's suppose to continue with the installation. But when I do that, nothing happens. It can't even seem to detect that I inserted the damn thing. And no, it isn't a problem with my USB port. At first I thought that maybe mine was damaged, but after viewing the Tech Support forum at Nintendo WiFi's website, I found that lots of people are having the exact same problem I am. One person who couldn't get it to work even tried it on a different computer that was built with the exact same hardware as his, and it worked perfectly, yet his computer still couldn't detect the thing at all. Other people have said that it worked perfectly for the first day, but then just randomly stopped (yet it would still work on other computers, so it isn't broken). I e-mailed Nintendo about it, but they had no idea what the problem was. A lot of other people got the same response, and many people even called them directly. But as of yet, Nintendo hasn't offered a solution, or even an explanation, as to why we are having this problem. I'm really starting to feel that I wasted my money. Oh well, had anyone else tried using one of these things? Or does anyone have any idea why this would happen? Link to comment
Ceraziefish
I had not heard of this. I assume it's a controller for PC's? Link to comment
Siendra
No, it's a Wifi reciever so you can play the DS online without a full-on wireless router. Akito, Nintendo will probably have soem kind of driver patch up or something. If not, you know they're good on making sure you get what's yours. Link to comment
Akito
Well, I sure hope they come up with a solution soon. So far, any suggestions they've offered haven't fixed anything. Link to comment
Hero
Just buy a damn router. You can buy a good Linksys BEFW11S4 (one of, if not the best on the market) for around $50. Link to comment
Akito
Well I already payed nearly $40 for this dongle and I'd like to get it working. Plus, I don't want to invest in a wireless router, or wireless network cards for every computer in my household. Link to comment
Galkar
I'm glad for this warning, as I was about to get one considering that my wireless router is quite the wonky one. I guess I'll just have to convince my mom to get a new router, as she's already leaning towards that anyway. Link to comment

I am having a problem of my own, we have a wireless router in my house that works with anyones laptop that comes over from any room in the house, but even standing infront of it with my DS I cant get it to read a connection. Siendra
Check your routers compatability here. I've had no problems thus far. Link to comment
Wind
Thanks I'll have to mess around with it when I have the time. Link to comment

I have the latest Linksys wireless router, and even sitting in front of my router only grants me the recognition that there is a "connection", but it refuses to communicate with it. I have turned literally every form of encryption off, as well as any type of encryption on my own computer (one of the 2 comps using the signal) off as well. I really don't want to have to sit there all day and open and close ports to find which one I can use. I may end up just getting the adapter if all else fails. Link to comment
Gundampilotspaz
That is the same situation I'm in. $50 wireless rounter Vs. $30 used wi-fi thing. If worse comes to worse, me and my brother will just split the cost. Link to comment
Siendra
Jeese, and you people say I'm stupid for not knowing I would neeed a WoW time card right off the bat. At least the information on whether or not your routers would function properly with the DS was fairly simple to come across. Link to comment

Uh, we have wireless routers we just need to open up the correct ports and whatnot, me and GPS anyway. Link to comment
Siendra
Turn off the security settings, then connect. Stay connected and turn them back on. XP or your router control panel will ask if you want to keep it as a trusted connection and viola, you're done. Link to comment

Actually, the correct proceedure is to make sure your security settings aren't set to WPA. Nintendo WiFi does not recognize that kind of security (yet), so untill then, you'd have to switch to WEP. I set up the wireless connection in my house and I still cannot get a full-fledged connection to my DS, just because you had an easy time setting up yours doesn't mean that the rest of us have. Those are the instructions on the WFCF if all else fails. I didn't have any problems at all. I put in my WEP key, saved it, and can log on whenever. Also, you could have checked your routers compatability. Which I'm guessing you haven't, since the problem you're describing only occurs with routers on the lower end of the scale. Which mean you should have known that the adapter would be required. Link to comment

You guess wrong, I have a fully compatible Linksys Wireless G router that refuses to connect with my DS no matter what type of resolution I attempt. I'm not some dumb shit who just buys things without looking at compatibility first, I build computers for Christs sake. Link to comment
